Your Vision During Pregnancy
There are a lot of changes going on in your body while you’re pregnant, and immediately noticeable ones, such as an increased body mass index (BMI) and hormonal spikes, are common. However, a much less visible change is the swelling of the eyes, more specifically the cornea.

All of these changes are usually normal and a sign of your body adapting itself to nourishing the unborn baby. However, for those that regularly wear contact lenses, these changes can cause some discomfort and a change in vision.
The causes for a thickened cornea are related to the reasons why your feet and hands might swell up during pregnancy. Your blood and other body fluids go through pressure fluctuations due to the hormonal spikes you experience. It impossible to know in advance which part of your body will be affected by these fluctuations. However, if your eyes are affected, and you wear contact lenses regularly, there are a few things you should know. As the eyes change shape, you might experience dry and itchy eyes, causing blurry vision, and contact lens discomfort. Essentially, your contacts no longer fit the shape of the cornea.
While all of the above mentioned could happen, it is also important to mention that it is usually not dangerous and it is easily corrected. Visit your eye doctor so that he or she can determine how your cornea has changed shape and give you a new prescription with the correct optical power.

After your pregnancy, it is likely that your eyes will return to their original shape, meaning that the old prescription might be valid again – but this is an issue that only your eye doctor can decide upon.
To conclude, these are the two options that you will have to choose between.
New contact lenses
Your first alternative will simply be to get a prescription for new contact lenses. They will be of the right size for your cornea and with the correct strength. Even though your cornea most likely will go back to normal, you will be able to wear these lenses for another couple of months after the birth of your child.
Consider regular glasses
The other alternative is leaving your lenses alone for a couple of months and switching to regular lenses. You will still have to visit an optician as the glasses need to have the correct optical power, as your vision has probably been affected by the changes. Once your cornea is back to normal, you will be able to switch back to wearing your old contact lenses again.
